Hello my lovelies.....
Its weekend ... and the best time to hangout with friends over some good food... Right!
Thanks to your overwhelming response to the first edition of #BreakfastTrails series. As you all know, this series specifically focuses on breakfast options which you can enjoy not just as a foodie tourist, but even as a food lover local in a city.

For me, good food outing always means not just well cooked food, but also great ambiance of the place. Now don't get me wrong, a roadside dhaba with lush green fields in the background is equally good for me as a terrace restaurant in a five star property.... This edition of #BreakfastTrails brings a food joint that fits well in both the criteria and even though it hails to one of the most popular food chains in India, the franchisee owners have added their bit of Lakhnawi touch to the menu which is amazing, keeping the originals alive.

Presenting the latest edition of Breakfast Trails

Breakfast at Mocha

Most of the foodies across India are familiar with the name of Mocha. One of the best known cafe and dining restaurant chains in the country, Mocha belongs to Impresario Entertainment and Hospitality Pvt Ltd. They have 12 locations across India, Lucknow being the latest one. Mocha Lucknow is located at a very strategic location... barely a few metres from the all day buzzing Patrakarpuram Crossing at Gomti Nagar. It is on the top floor of a newly constructed complex, hence despite being on a busy road it does offer some peace.

The restaurant has two sitting options - Indoors and outdoors. While indoors can be a perfect option in those sultry summer days, the outdoor area offers an amazing option during rains or winters... when you just want some warmth. Beautifully decked up interiors with blue as a main theme colour gives it a Greek look.

Now over to the food since the blog is about food.... right! :-)

I was accompanied by my photographer bestie who is a big egg lover. For him, if an eating joint serves well made eggs, it is good :-) So ofcourse from the plentiful menu (18 pages of it), we decided to order things which are filling for a breakfast but not too filling to enjoy a lunch later.

And here is what we chose, with our views on it...

Masala Chai cutting : Every tea lovers delight, this was my bestie's kick start drink. Masala tea with froth on the top, aka latte, served in a beautiful blue Chheeka (tea holder) to give it a desi feel. The cup is full, but is beautifully called cutting. Bestie loved it and said that the froth was really light.

Cappuchino with hazelnut syrup : "When in Rome, do as Romans do... similarly, when at Mocha, do try their coffee..." my motto in life ;-) Anyways, so I went for a cappuchino with hazelnut syrup. I loved the coffee as it did not have added sugar and the hazelnut syrup did add the desired sweetness to it.

Grilled Chicken Tikka Sandwich : This one was a winner for me for sure. The chicken tikka was really juicy with perfect spices, the bread was soft (it is freshly baked everyday in their in-house bakery) and the mint chutney was awesome add on. My favourite and a high recommendation.

Sunny Side Up Eggs with hash browns and multigrain toast : See, I said na my bestie loves egg. And this one was good for him. Nicely cooked sunny side up egg with crisp hash browns and freshly baked Multigrain break is a complete meal in itself for one. He absolutely loved it (and didn't even allow me to taste :-(

Khow Suey : We were really filled because of the portions, so tasted just a bit of this Burmese dish. Served beautifully in a wooden try, it tasted nice. The soup was well made and had a calming taste. The accompaniments were good.

Mumbai Kanda Bhajiya Pav : I can keep coming back to this place just for this dish. Fresh buns (the typical pav buns) with green chutney layering aka mumbai ishtyle Vada Pav. The middle is crisp onion pakodas which add crispness to this dish. Served with ketchup and chips (not fries to keep the desiness intact), it is amazing. I loved how the soft bun and crispy pakodas create a dhamaal in your mouth with the first bite... Super recommended....

Lemonade : A light and refreshing drink served in a mason jar, this is a good accompaniment if you have allowed your tummy to enjoy loads of good dishes.

Bahaut Berry Smoothie: Don't dare this one if you want something light. Because this smoothie is quite filling. Made from a good selection of berries in yogurt, it has the right amount of tangyness to make you enjoy it with all kinds of dishes.

And this is me with my Bahaut Berry.

The franchisee is owned by young entreprenuer Ankit Sahni. Barely in his 20's, he has been skilfully managing the restaurant which has become a zooming hangout place for people of all ages. Ankit says that it is interesting to see Lucknow opening up to eating out ideas and Mocha aims at serving the best of all cuisines to the city.

This is me with Ankit Sahni....

Food for two at Mocha would be around INR 1000 if you are looking for a full meal. The restaurant has live music evenings and mornings which are great for someone who wants to enjoy music with food. Here is a glimpse of it.
